LET’S MEET UNDER THE OLIVE TREE

We were reading the Florios of Sicily (I Leoni di Sicilia). And, all of a sudden, we were there.

Armando and Lavinia got married in an ancient villa close to Noto, where her grandparents had lived their entire lives as a married couple. It was a symbolic location for a truly Sicilian wedding, full of popular traditions and colors.

He waited for her in the midst of an olive tree grove, where hundreds of cicadas where chirping. And when she and her baby bump arrived, they celebrated and listened to Sicilian popular songs amidst popular cloths, dancing at the rhythm of many tambourines and accordions.

We were impressed by the vintage wedding table: it was garnished with the historical pictures of the greatest Sicilian families (and, yes, Giuseppina Florio was there, too!).

And at the end of the party, the perfect party favor: a small extra virgin olive oil bottle.
